Maine House member announces for governor
By The Associated Press
Rep. Dawn Hill, D-York

PORTLAND, Maine — State Rep. Dawn Hill, a second-term legislator from York, is entering the 2010 race for governor.

Hill, a Democrat, said she plans to file papers with the Commission on Governmental Ethics and Election Practices in Augusta on Wednesday before heading to Portland for a campaign appearance in Monument Square.

Hill said Maine needs a fresh approach that offers common sense solutions that bring people together and help everyone get ahead.

A lawyer and small business owner, she has described herself as a fiscal moderate and a social progressive.

Democratic Gov. John Baldacci is serving his second consecutive four-year term and cannot seek re-election.
